The Two-State Solution
is no Solution
American
president Barack Hussein Obama is strongly supporting
a two-state solution to the problem in the Middle East.
And, he is not only supporting it, but is making it
very difficult for Israel internationally until she
declares full support for the plan, also. He says he
has some good reasons for his position. He says he
believes Iran will play nice if Israel gives up more
of her land to the so-called Palestinians and gives
the eastern part of her own capital, Jerusalem, to the
Arabs as the capital of their state. Might he even
believe Iran could take the production of nuclear arms
off its agenda if Israel agrees to the two-state idea?
The Obama position gives rise to a
couple of very important questions. Does he really
believe another Arab state, this one in the middle of
Israel, will quench the desire the Moslem world has
for the total destruction of Israel? And closely related
to that question is the one about Iran and her desire
to see the Islamic Mahdi appear. That is, does Obama
believe the formation of this additional Arab state
will cause Iran to abandon her desire for world turmoil
which she believes is necessary in order to usher in
the appearance of al Mahdi?
I think what Obama believes can be
summed up in a few short sentences. First, he knows
the two-state solution is not a solution at all, but
is simply another step in the direction of appeasing
the Moslem world. He knows they will take whatever
they can get, but will never really be satisfied until
Israel is no more — end of story! I think that does
not bother him because he believes the Moslem world
is more closely aligned with his personal convictions
than Israel, and is thus more important to his own agenda.
If that is the case then Israel’s security is really
not a concern to him whatsoever and all this two-state
talk is just so much hot air. Inevitably, he might
believe, the final war for Jerusalem will be fought
and Israel will lose anyway.
It seems the Israelis have this much
figured out by now. They now believe Obama is biased
in favor of the Palestinians by a margin of over 12
to 1 (“The Honest Broker is dead: Israelis believe Obama
biased”, israelinsider.ning.com, cited 31Aug09). Now,
the question is how long will it take Americans to arrive
at the same conclusion? Sadly, any number of Americans
do not care, and many in that group call themselves
Christians.
Recent reports (www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/133050
cited 31Aug09) indicate Obama even has a plan for the
Temple Mount that goes hand-in-hand with his two state
solution. Some of that plan includes:
-
the
UN would be present in the Jordan Valley and in
parts of Judea and Samaria
-
the
Palestinian Authority terror groups would be disbanded
and would become political parties
-
the
transfer of Islamic holy sites in Jerusalem to Muslim
authority, and this probably includes the Temple
Mount
None of this offers security to Israel
to any degree. The presence of UN troops in the Jordan
Valley, ostensibly for the purpose of keeping the peace,
means absolutely nothing. The fact of the matter is
there is no peace to be kept. What Israel is experiencing
is a constant war of attrition occasionally interrupted
by cease-fires which allow Hezbollah and Hamas to rearm.
Further, the president of any future Palestinian state
can order the “peace keepers” out at any time. And,
the proposed disbanding of Moslem terrorist groups into
political parties is purely disingenuous. It is cruel,
anti-Semitic satire at best, and would only mean their
names would change — their agenda would not.
The Temple Mount deal offers another
problem that is of a slightly different color. Israel
won the Six Day War of 1967 and in the process captured
the old city of Jerusalem including the Temple Mount
and the Western Wall. For the first time in 1897 years
the Jews had gained control of their own ancient holy
place. Jews from all over the world rejoiced at the
news. What a day it was! However, the rejoicing soon
ended when General Moshe Dayan gave control of the Temple
Mount back to the Moslems a few days later. Among other
things this gesture was to show Moslems and the world
in general that Israel was not going to destroy Islamic
holy sites, she was not going to be a bully and that
she was willing to live in peace with her Arab neighbors.
What was the reaction of the Moslem world to such neighborliness?
They laughed at Israel’s naivety. Just as they did
when Israel pulled out of Gaza in 2005 in her bid to
live peaceably with the Arabs.
Of further interest is the fact that
Israel also gave Israeli citizenship to those Arabs
living in the land Israel won since her independence.
Israel built hospitals, schools and other public service
projects on behalf of the Arab population which gave
rise to a standard of living that far exceeded that
which they experienced in Arab countries. There is
even Arab representation in the Knesset! And how was
this received by the Arab world? Do you really have
to ask…?
Ignorance of the truth regarding the
1948 War of Independence is so overwhelming it is beyond
belief. So, too, is the ignorance regarding the absolute
insanity of a two state solution. Add to that those
who know the facts, but whose hatred for Israel will
simply not allow them to acknowledge the truth. A typical
sample of such ignorance and hatred is presented from
a blog visited 1 Sept 09. It is verbatim:
Esmeralda [Friday, January 09,
2009] Israel is the problem! My tax dollars 10 billion
plus are given every year to kill palestanians, the
jews in isrel do not want peace, they will to kill every
last palestanian and then take over the entire region! They
do want ever thay want here in USA and in palestine,
They are the biggest problem, Haulacast is something
that is spoken everday, I am sick of hearing that c_
_ p, They control the media here and they make policies
here in congress in fa vour of the jews, over 90% of
american do not know the real israel because of the
jewish lobby and the media. I live in NY and was born
in New York city, Our mayor is a jew and 9% of congress
members are jewish. Israel will do everyhing to palestine
to stop them from having their own country.
To answer this kind of shallow, irrational
drivel would be a waste of time and ink. What can be
said, though, is the empirical evidence shows clearly
the problem is not with Israel. As someone once said,
the Arabs never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.
Why? Because peace is not part of their agenda. Plain
and simple.
A person does not have to be a military
genius to see a two state solution is the epitome of
stupidity because it makes Israel indefensible. Should
Israel allow her remaining land to be divided by the
surrender of Judea and Samaria (so-called West Bank)
to the Arabs, she would be a sitting duck for the Arab
world. The country would be only nine miles wide north
of Tel Aviv. Not only would this become an operational
choke-point for the IDF, but Arab armies moving through
Judea and Samaria would quickly and easily cut the country
in half. Further, a causeway connecting Judea and Samaria
with Gaza would add to this tactical horror because
the causeway would be sovereign territory of the new
Arab state replete with whatever fortifications the
new Arab state would want to erect.
When the Arab nations attack Israel
in this scenario (and history proves we can believe
they would!) the movement of men and materiel will be
impossible. Conventional maneuver warfare would mostly
be out of the question. This means the use of tactical
nuclear weapons would be on the table. That act in
itself could signal the possible implementation of the
“Samson Option” which many believe means Israel will
release her nuclear power unrestrained thus destroying
her enemies as she dies herself.
Add to that the massive amount of small
arms the Palestinian Authority currently has inside
the borders of Israel! With such weapons as medium
machine guns, LAWs (Light Anti-tank Weapon), plastic
explosives, etc., it would not be difficult for the
Arabs to sabotage bridges, disrupt communications, impede
movement, kill civilians, attack key installations...all
while the armies of the Arab nations attack, invade
and pound the State of Israel into the sand. That is
what a two state solution will accomplish.
Are we to believe the Pentagon, the
Congress and the White House do not understand this?
Are we to believe Obama, Hillary Clinton and the rest
of the American political machine do not see the picture?
Did the Bush administration also not see it? Yes, it
was and is clear to all of them. The problem is not
with the eyes, it is with the heart.
In the analysis, however, the destruction
of Israel is not going to happen. There is a couple
more wars on the near horizon (Psalm 83; Ezekiel 38,39
in which God will provide great victory) before Armageddon
(Zechariah 14; Revelation 19), but even at Armageddon
she will not be totally destroyed. Yes, sixty-six percent
will die in those days, but the remnant will be spared
(Zechariah 13).
If all that is so, then why all the
hullabaloo about these matters? If it does not matter
what the UN, Obama, Ahmadinejad, Hezbollah, and the
rest of the anti-Semitic world does, then why should
we not just sit back and let history take its course?
We could even benefit from siding with the Arabs because
of the oil situation, because in the end God will deal
with them as He said He will anyway. Such is the thinking
of many Christians today. Such was the thinking of
many Christians from 1933 to 1945. Maybe what churches
need is a refresher about the warnings God has given
to the world regarding hatred of His people, the Jews,
in Genesis 12:3, Joel 3:2, Zechariah 2:8, etc. Maybe
we are about to get one.
What the church has historically not
understood, or wanted to understand is maybe the most
accurate way to say it, is God loves the Jew, He has
not forsaken them and He has a plan for them. Basically,
the church has a choice — either she will be a recipient
of the blessings associated with His marvelous design
for the Jews, or she will not. Speaking to the Gentile
church members in Rome, God made this very clear in
Romans chapters 9-11, and especially in 11:11-13a.
You see, Israel is not in competition
with the church for God’s affection. All who are saved
are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, and
not through Judaism. God’s desire for Jews is their
salvation through their Messiah, Yeshua, and His plan
is to bring them to that point while at the same time
keeping every special unconditional promise He made
to their Patriarchs and their nation. The anti-Semitic,
replacement theology church needs to remember something:
if God fails to keep His promises to the Jews, what
makes us think He will keep those He made to the church?
In the end there is no such thing as
a “two state solution”. That land is God’s and He gave
it to Abraham’s descendants through Isaac. The world
can scream until there is no breath left...that does
not change the fact of the matter. What Christians
need to consider is the cost in God’s judgment upon
any nation, including our own, for standing against
the truth. Israel, though obstinate and in full-blown
rebellion against God today, is still here. Her enemies
for 4000 years are in the dust-bin of history. And
there is much room left there for those enemies of today
and tomorrow. DLM |
