Evolution — Why Does The Emphasis
Outweigh The Evidence?
 Why
does evolution, which is not real science, command so
much attention and credibility in the minds of the majority
of people? Do you suppose there is a reason why not
only eternal truth, but also empirical evidence have
been cast aside in favor of an essentially baseless
theory whose adherents are often emotionally charged
on the subject? Do you think it might be possible that
the problem is spiritual in nature instead of being
scientific? I think so.
James Dobson was right. That is, many
young students are easily intimidated and misled by
their college profs, and for those who enter college
with little or no Bible education it is quite easy for
them to be brainwashed by all the doctors and grad students
who push evolution so strongly. When I entered LSU a
number of years ago I was a war veteran and thus several
years older than most of my classmates. Having a larger
than normal dose of skepticism (after a couple tours
in Viet Nam who wouldn’t be skeptical of authority?)
I quite simply did not accept at face value what anybody
said, no matter their credentials. More than once this
put me at odds with socially and politically liberal
professors who just could not understand how anybody
might question their theses and conclusions. One particular
political science professor, highly educated, well published
and extremely liberal, would take off for his office
after certain class discussions where he probably downed
a Valium and chased it with a couple straight shots
of whiskey forthwith. Strange, but I never did qualify
as one of his favorite students. Heady days, those were.
Science, as you know, is supposed to
be a part of any college education. Webster says science
is possession of knowledge as opposed to ignorance and
misunderstanding. It is supposed to be neutral, and
the scientific method of examination is to be unbiased
allowing the facts to stand on their own. Yet it did
not take very long to see that the belief my professors
had in evolution was mostly agenda driven and had little
to do with science. It quickly became crystal clear
that real science was thrown out the window and was
replaced by a social and political religion called humanism.
In context of the last days God says,
But evil men and impostors will proceed from bad
to worse, deceiving and being deceived (2 Timothy
3:13 NASB). That this warning would apply to politics
and theology is obvious, but to science?! Why would
deception be so engrained in that which is supposed
to be so impartial? The answer is quite simple: when
God is hated and thus removed from His place as Creator,
Sustainer and Redeemer science automatically defaults
to a humanist driven agenda. The pristine character
of science becomes maligned and tainted because a major
part of the discipline is forcibly sequestered in a
dark and dank closet of lies and is fed by absurd embellishments
and flawed conclusions. Like a wild mushroom that grows
profusely in the dark out of piles of cow manure, in
the same way does evolution proliferate in the nonacademic
halls of half-truths and unscientific reasoning.
It is nothing less than amazing, and
at times humorous, to see both ignorance and hypocrisy
come to light in a group discussion on evolution. If
a participant is a Christian his opinion is rejected
out of hand because his conclusions are considered to
be based upon religion instead of “science”.
If another participant is a humanist his opinion is
accepted because he, as an atheist or agnostic, is basing
his conclusions on said science. And if two humanists
happen to disagree on an issue their opinions are considered
with equal weight even though they might know less than
little about the subject on the table. The implied conclusion
is there is Bible-based religion and there is science
out there, and the two are eternally and mutually exclusive.
This belief system reigns supreme in government schools
and it stinks with inconsistency, duplicity and a very
condescending attitude.
You might try the following sometime
in order to demonstrate the inconsistency of those who
accept the theory of evolution. On a table place an
arrow head, a common nail, a watch and a detailed picture
of a simple one-celled living organism. Ask your class
to write a 100 word paper describing the origin and
purpose of each item. You might find that most observers
will identify the first three items as being man-made.
The arrowhead and the nail might be described as having
order, symmetry, etc. The description of the watch might
refer to complexity, variety of construction materials
including plastic, vinyl and metal, etc. The origin
of the living one-celled organism, however, will most
probably be ascribed to happenstance, random selection,
evolution. Such people leave their senses at the door
of the laboratory!
We might ask how can otherwise intelligent
human beings see intelligent design behind an arrowhead
or a common nail, but fail to see a design of even higher
intelligence behind an organism so complex the precision
of the watch is eclipsed?! The answer has nothing to
do with an accidental failure to see, but a flat-out
refusal to see the obvious.
Some years ago I was involved in an
archaeological dig in Israel. We looked for pottery
and metal objects such as coins because scientists date
ancient sites based upon very simple things such as
pottery and metal objects. Pottery and rusty bits of
metal — that is about as complex as it gets. Yet,
the scientific world is often shaken by conclusions
made from the examination of such basic things. However,
that same scientific world chooses to be unmoved by
the complexity of mitochondria and DNA — things
no human is even close to understanding definitively.
Such hypocrisy is more than mere inconsistency, it is
a world-class sham. And the exasperating thing is the
proponents of evolution will stand before you and not
even wince in the face of their obvious bold-face hypocrisy.
Their consciences are seared!
So, what is it really all about? It
is about having to accept the consequences of admitting
there is a God who made it all. And that is something
the secular world cannot accept under any circumstances
no matter the evidence. It is the old, “There
ain’t no God who is gonna tell me how to live!”
thing. To admit God made it means He might have something
to say about it. And, it could also mean humans might
be held to a standard somewhat higher than that of a
system of behavior based upon circumstance instead of
principles. And, it might also mean there really is
a place called heaven, and another one called hell.
In a nutshell the implications of believing God did
it are too far-reaching; it would force people to accept
accountability for the way they live. And that is too
horrible for the humanist to even ponder!
Because of these things evolutionists,
while blinding themselves in self-deception, say natural
selection is the only scientific, logical and reasonable
answer to the question of origins. Any thing else, they
say with a yawning shrug of the shoulder, is of the
Bible which, they also say, has no place in a laboratory.
And with this one simple sentence they relegate everything
thing else, no matter how much evidence is presented,
to some isolated and soon-to-be-forgotten room labeled
“Religion — Subjective and Personal”.
The core of all this is people do not
want to be bound by a moral law. They want to do as
they please, to whom they please, when they please and
without accountability. They want nothing to do with
the idea they will one day have to stand before God
to answer for their lives. To them the term “reckoning”
has to do with financial accountability, not moral accountability.
Think maybe this is too far fetched?
Think again. Aldous Huxley, who wrote Brave New
World, who was the grandson of Sir Julian Huxley
who in turn was the greatest defender of Darwin and
who died believing in evolution said, “I had motive
for not wanting the world to have a meaning; consequently
assumed that it had none, and was able without any difficulty
to find satisfying reasons for this assumption.
The philosopher who finds no meaning in the world
is not concerned exclusively with a problem in pure
metaphysics, he is also concerned to prove that there
is no valid reason why he personally should not do as
he wants to do, or why his friends should not seize
political power and govern in the way that they find
most advantageous to themselves. … For
myself, the philosophy of meaninglessness was essentially
an instrument of liberation, sexual and political.”
(Aldous Huxley, Ends and Means, pp. 270 ff emphasis
mine).
Consider also Dr. Richard Lewontin,
evolutionary biologist, geneticist and Marxist who said
he was going to accept evolution no matter what the
truth might be… “We take the side of science
in spite of the patent absurdity of some of
its constructs, in spite of its failure to
fulfill many of its extravagant promises of health and
life, in spite of the tolerance of the scientific
community for unsubstantiated just-so stories, because
we have a prior commitment, a commitment to materialism.
It is not that the methods and institutions of science
somehow compel us to accept a material explanation of
the phenomenal world, but, on the contrary, that we
are forced by our a priori adherence to material causes
to create an apparatus of investigation and a set of
concepts that produce material explanations, no matter
how counter-intuitive, no matter how mystifying to the
uninitiated. Moreover, that materialism is an absolute,
for we cannot allow a Divine Foot in the door.”
(Richard Lewontin, Billions and Billions of Demons,
The New York Review, p. 31, 9 January 1997).
The false science of evolution is not
limited to academia. It offers license for the criminal
mind, also. Most every body remembers the mass murderer
and cannibal Jeffrey Dahmer. This is what he had to
say, “If a person doesn’t think there
is a God to be accountable to, then—then what’s
the point of trying to modify your behavior to keep
it within acceptable ranges? That’s how I
thought anyway. I always believed the theory of evolution
as truth, that we all just came from the slime.
When we, when we died, you know, that was it, there
is nothing…” (Jeffrey Dahmer, in an interview
with Stone Phillips, Dateline NBC, Nov. 29,
1994 emphasis mine).
Consider the issue of faith. The faith
of a Christian is not a blind faith, but is faith built
upon the Bible (Romans 10:17). In the first chapter
of Romans Paul explained how we can know God exists
simply by observing creation. Yes, ours is a religion
based upon a faith-type belief system, but it is a belief
system with genuine substance.
Not so with evolution. Evolution is
just one dogma in the religion of humanism; a dogma
with absolutely no evidence. We do not have to present
a detailed study of open and closed systems, the harmful
impact of mutations, the total lack of real evidence
for species to species change, the first and second
laws of thermodynamics, etc. And, a person does not
have to have a PhD in some scientific field to know
this. Common horse-sense is sufficient to dispel such
a cockamamie theory as evolution to the person who wants
to know the truth and refuses to be influenced by some
God-hater on philosophical steroids with an agenda.
Ever wonder why it is so easy for most
18 year old college freshmen to not just fall, but to
jump headlong into the humanist life-style? Consider
again Mr. Huxley’s comment. Notice that Huxley
essentially said he wanted to live his life politically
and sexually without God having anything to say about
it, and he wanted no condemnation for it, neither from
society nor from his own conscience. That, folks, is
the whole thing in a nutshell! In general the secular
world wants exactly what Huxley wanted. Why? Because
there is no sensual pleasure like that of unrestrained
sexual pursuits, and there is no aphrodisiac like that
of consummate power. It is the old one-two punch Satan
has been using to knock the human race senseless for
millennia. It works because it appeals so deeply to
the flesh.
Why is there so much dogmatic support
for a ridiculous theory that has no genuine evidence?
Basically it all has to do with the often unspoken,
yet foundational appeal of evolution. When the appeal
is so strong that it massages the base sensuality of
the human heart the fact that it is all a lie becomes
totally irrelevant.
Dr. Joseph Goebbels, Hitler’s
Minister of Propaganda, said if you tell a big lie long
enough people will believe it. In context that was his
indictment against Churchill, but he personally employed
that same principle on a daily basis in Nazi Germany
with great success. Proponents of the evolution lie
do the same in classrooms, publications and TV programs
with even greater success. You see, many people base
their belief system on what they see on the Discovery
Channel, the History Channel and other such outlets
whose overall message is anything but biblical.
To be deceived is terrible; to be self-deceived
is inexcusably foolish with hellish eternal consequences.
