The Question of Moral Equivalency
One
of the most volatile aspects of the Middle East conflict
has to do with the land of Israel and who has rightful
claim to it. It is true that Hamas is fighting Fatah,
the Shiites are fighting the Sunnis, the Saudi Royal
Family is in danger from Arab threats within the kingdom,
some Arab progressives in Iran hate Ahmadinejad, Muslims
are killing Muslims in Iraq and the list could go on.
Seeing the evening news coming out of the Middle East
is like watching a Who’s Who among the Muslim
elite as they fight for dominance and supremacy. But,
no matter how you cut it, the issue that brings them
all together under a single umbrella is their hatred
for Israel.
Yet, if Israel were wiped off the face
of the map today the Arab world would still be in turmoil
next week. God said they would be a wild people (Genesis
16:7ff), and this has proven to be quite true. When
the Iraq war began some observers questioned whether
the Arabs in general even wanted what we call democratic
freedom, and they wondered if they could handle it even
if it were given to them at the cost of somebody else’s
blood. Good questions.
Such intransigence seems to be their
history. They were quite adept at blood-letting when
Mohammed came along and the facts clearly indicate they
are still inclined to murder. Even in some western countries
(where it is illegal) the men of a household will kill
their sister if she dishonors her family in some way.
These are called “honor killings” and have
been described by Human Rights Watch —
Violence Against Women and Honor Crimes, April
6, 2001 as:
Honor crimes are acts of violence,
usually murder, committed by male family members against
female family members, who are perceived to have brought
dishonor upon the family. A woman can be tar- geted
by...her own family for a variety of reasons, including:
refusing to enter into an arranged marriage, being
the victim of sexual assault, seeking a divorce —
even from an abusive husband or (allegedly) committing
adultery. The mere perception that a woman has behaved
in a specific way to “dishonor” her family,
is sufficient to trigger an attack. (emphasis mine).
Not only did Mohammed keep his followers
in idolatry, but he kept them immersed in the practice
of murder for just about any reason anyone can conjure
up. Such is taught in the Koran and was exemplified
by Mohammed. No wonder Islam is called “the bloody
religion of the sword”!
By the way, anybody know how many Muslim
men have been killed for committing rape, wanting a
divorce or maiming their wives? Saddam Hussein’s
son Uday committed many rapes, including some young
women he happened to see in hotels on their wedding
nights. One new groom immediately blew his own head
off afterward. Both Uday and his brother Qusay were
fond of such cruelty and never paid for it. That is,
until some Green Berets, Delta Operators and Navy DEVGRU
guys parked a TOW missile in their house.
Funny how Muslims hate the West for
its decadence, but engage in the very depths of it while
visiting, working or going to school here. It seems
their half-baked allegiance to some supposed high moral
Islamic code is just so much talk. But, no body is willing
to call their hand on their hypocrisy. And that is the
issue here.
A study of Genesis 15 shows God planned
to give the land to Abraham, but not until the fourth
generation because “the iniquity of the Amorite
is not yet complete.” The Amorites were descended
from Canaan, the son of Ham, and gained prominence in
Canaan in those days prior to the Israelite conquest
under Joshua. Though God had told His people to totally
destroy them it was not done, and those who remained
became a stumbling block to the Hebrews. They were a
very wicked people who practiced sexual perversion,
child sacrifice and other forms of bloody deviancy.
It is true that the Hebrews were quite
often not very godly people and it is also true that,
though they knew better, they chose to often practice
idolatry and paganism. They were severely punished by
God for their rebellion by being driven into Assyrian
and Babylonian captivity. Yet, the land was given to
them in spite of their idolatry for two major reasons.
First, God’s land-grant promises and His honor
could not be called into question. And second, God used
the conquest under Joshua to remove the morally deviant
Canaanites from the scene. Yes, the Israelites often
took on the complexion of the pagan nations they did
not destroy, yet God saw a difference. And to deny that
is to deny the obvious.
Though the Arabs are not descended
from the Canaanites, the same principle holds true today.
Yes, the Jews in Israel today are mostly in rebellion
against God. And, they not only refuse to see Jesus
as their Messiah, but they are so secularized they give
no heed to anything about their Messiah. Yet, God has
a special plan for them — Zechariah 12-14.
You see, God still sees a distinction
between the Jews and their Arab neighbors. Of course,
we must keep in mind the soul of an Arab is of equal
value in the eyes of God as the soul of a Jew. Yet,
that does not void the God-given distinction between
Jew and Gentile that has been in place for millennia.
In essence, the practice of the anti-Semitic
world of putting the Israelis and Arabs on equal moral
footing in context of the land-struggle must be examined
a bit deeper. No nation in the history of the world
has done more to protect innocent life during wartime
than Israel. While Hezbollah uses women and children
as shields behind which they fire their rockets into
Israel, the IDF purposefully allows their own casualties
to increase in order to not kill innocent people. Yet,
the world does not note this as credit.
The Muslim authorities demand death
for any Arab who sells Arab property to a Jew. Muslims
cannot even privately sell their property to a Jew without
fear of being killed. Where is the outcry? Where are
the demands for UN investigations? Where, I wonder,
does former President Jimmy Carter stand on this particular
style of apartheid?
“My dream was to be a suicide
bomber. I wanted to kill 20, 50 Jews. Yes, even babies.”
Manuela Dviri, The Sunday Telegraph, 2005/06/26 (from:
watch.windsofchange.net/2005/05_0620_0626.htm).
What do you think the world-wide response would be should
an Israeli soldier say this? Muslims say such things
regularly and there is no outrage.
Muslims kidnap, torture and beat to
death kids serving in the IDF and no body demands an
accounting. A Muslim sniper purposefully targeted a
6 month old Jewish infant and no one protested. One
little-publicized practice is the use of women as suicide
bombers — women who are charged with “dishonoring
their families”. They are given a choice: die
killing Jews or be killed by your family. Some are trapped
into sexual affairs and then threatened with exposure
if they do not “volunteer” for suicide duty.

These and other such practices are
common among the Muslim enemies of Israel, yet it is
difficult to find in-depth commentary and editorials
on the subject. Almost everybody is fair game in the
media, and animal-level blood-letting is generally given
front-page attention. Unless, of course, it happens
to come from the Muslim world. Muslim atrocities get
a brief blip on the media screen with succinct and vague
commentary. But, let something along the lines of the
1982 Lebanon Sabra/Shatila incident come along and it
never ends. Ariel Sharon knows this first hand.
History is filled with incidents such
as My Lai, Nanking, Rwanda, etc., and none of it can
be justified no matter the perpetrator. Yet, to step
back and take an objective look at the Middle East conflict
and to give moral equivalency to the Muslims is to deny
reality. Contrary to what might be in vogue politically,
there can indeed be a morally right side in a conflict,
and in this case it is not the Muslim world! Whether
the world likes it or not the Jews have the moral high
ground in this battle. True, the time for answering
for their rebellion is coming, but it will be based
upon God’s sovereignty and not some Muslim Ayatollah’s
fatwa. The world is steeped in a hatred for the Jew
that defies description and brusquely casts aside any
call for objectivity. God has noticed and Revelation
19 tells us what He will do about it. DLM |
