Islam-The Trojan Horse
The
mythical story of the Trojan Horse serves as a very
good illustration of how something that looks benign
can be, in fact, a very destructive element. The Greeks
attacked the city of Troy, and for ten years had no
success at breaching the city walls. Finally, they retreated
and left a giant wooden horse outside the gates. Inside
the horse were armed Greek soldiers waiting for the
opportunity to be pulled inside the walls of the city.
Convinced the Greeks had given up and gone home, the
Trojans pulled the horse inside the city thinking it
was some kind of peace offering from the retreating
Greeks. The entire city celebrated in a drunken uproar.
After the celebrating Trojans had passed out from the
alcohol the Greeks unsealed the door and climbed out
of the horse. They quickly killed the sentries and opened
the gates. The entire Greek army came in and took the
city killing the men and boys and taking the women and
girls as slaves. By dawn everyone in Troy was either
dead or in bondage.
I believe Islam can be considered such a Trojan Horse because
many Americans, leaders and constituencies alike, can not
see insidious nature of this religion. The President of the
United States and the Secretary of State refer to Islam as
"one of the world's great religions", and essentially
give it moral and spiritual equivalence with Christianity.
After 9-11 Mr. Bush was very accommodating to the Islamic
clerics in the US and constantly reiterated that this was
not a war against Islam, but rather a war against terror.
Last November, while speaking to a Muslim group in the US,
Mr. Powell implied very strongly that Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson,
Franklin Graham, and other such evangelical Christians are
bigots because these men issued warnings against the impact
and influence of the bloody religion of Islam. Have Mr. Bush
and Mr. Powell lost their faculties of discernment?
I want to make several observations about this situation
and the possible consequences. First, what we are involved
in is indeed a war against Islam. To confirm this simply read
The Koran. The Islamic clerics calling for "death to
the Great Satan (the US)" are not outside the parameters
of Koranic teaching. Pick up a copy of this "holy"
book and see for yourself. Terror is not the enemy; it is
a tool of the enemy. While in Vietnam we did not fight against
satchel charges and punji stakes. We fought against the Viet
Cong and the North Vietnamese Army. Satchel charges and punji
stakes were two of their weapons. Terror is a tool of the
Islamic religion that is used to gain their objective, and
that objective is to subjugate as much of the world as possible.
To believe we can live as a free people and be at peace with
Islam is to put ourselves in the same boat of self-deception
as British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain who, after leaving
a September 30, 1938 meeting with Adolph Hitler said, "I
believe it is peace for our time." The rest is history.
What is the danger? Islam is a Trojan Horse. But, it is no
longer waiting at the gates to be pulled inside; it is inside
already! We must not think Islam will not change America.
It already has. Fifty years ago no American was worried about
the influence of Eastern religions, including Islam. Today
the influence is all around us. How has this happened? I think
it is quite simple: America now worships the god of "tolerance",
and this has opened the door to a terrible enemy whose aim
is to impose upon everyone the religion of Allah. This is
the stated aim of Islam's own clerics. So, why do political
leaders insist these clerics do not mean what they say? Most
probably because they want peace very badly and think such
tolerance is the only way it will be achieved. They are deceived.
What can happen? Look at what has already happened with the
influence of Islam in cities like Detroit where the Moslem
community rushed into the streets to celebrate the Islamic
attack on the morning of 9-11. Think about the oil dollars
Islamic countries have invested in the American stock market,
which in itself presents a very real economic danger. But
terrorism is not limited to weapons of mass destruction. It
can come in another form: that of technology. Islamists can
use computer programs called "Trojan Horses" (something
similar to computer viruses and worms) that can confuse, disrupt,
manipulate, modify or even destroy oil/gas delivery systems,
power grids, 911 systems, government agencies and private
industry. Such programs are called "Trojan Horses"
because they appear benign and even beneficial, but are nothing
less than devastating. They typically infect PCs in the form
of gift offers such as, "You have just won a Caribbean
cruise." Mainframe attacks can be different, but just
as effective.
God has warned His people these things would become prevalent
during what is called the "end times". To identify
what we are seeing as genuine signs of the end times is no
knee-jerk reaction by ignorant people looking for the Anti-christ
behind every bush. Such world-wide pandemonium is no longer
science fiction; it is now a very real possibility. Many thought
9-11 would be the much-needed wake-up call, but it has not
had a permanent effect. Life goes on with mundane routine
with little or no thought to the imminent return of Jesus
for His church, which is both our blessed hope (Titus 2:13)
and the purifying factor in our lives (1 John 3:2,3).
But, there is a positive side to these matters. The threat
of war, the rise of Islam, the falling stock market, etc.
all have people (including some Christians) wringing their
hands in anxious anticipation of the forth-coming dooms day.
But, for the believer who is listening for the trumpet such
things are not so much warning signs as they are welcoming
signs, for it is those very signs that announce the season
of our Lord's return. For our children's sake we must be concerned
and involved regarding these matters, but we must not be troubled.
Jesus did not promise us a smooth and threat-less journey
through this life, but He did promise us a safe journey with
a certain and glorious end.
The public in general is frightened by what they are seeing.
They fear the loss of their jobs, the further deterioration
of their retirement funds, a substantial reduction of their
affluent standard of living, unprecedented national debt,
and a type of war we have never before seen in our country.
Now more than ever people need to see their Christian friends,
neighbors, and family members living with a sense of peace
and assurance that stands out like a flashing beacon of hope
in a black morass of evil and uncertainty. To Christians who
love the appearing of Jesus Christ for His church these things
are not morbid harbingers of doom and gloom; they are exciting
signs that indicate our journey is almost over. DLM
