Ishmael-A Wild Donkey of a Man
 In
the days just after the capture of Baghdad news reports
quoted several political sources as saying Iraq will
never be a democratic nation because the Arabs are simply
not able to handle democracy. The amazing thing about
this statement is that the Arabs did not protest it!
As I heard this report I thought that maybe somebody
might actually be paying attention to what God said
about the descendants of Ishmael in Genesis 16:12. In
general Arabs are descendants of Ishmael, the illegitimate
son of Abraham by the Egyptian slave-girl Hagar. Muhammed
himself claimed to be a descendant of Ishmael through
his second son Kedar, and most all Arab Muslims make
the same claim. The relevant question is this: Is this
Biblical description of Ishmael's descendants accurate?
And, the answer is: Yes, it is.
Think about it. Can you imagine the head-of-state of most
any other nation standing before throngs of people and firing
a rifle or pistol into the air? Can you imagine civilians,
police officers and soldiers in the US wildly firing full
automatic weapons during a funeral procession or celebration?
This, and other demonstrations of emotions-gone-wild, is done
every day in many Arab countries. Why such a dramatic show
of anger or jubilation, or whatever it might be they are trying
to demonstrate? The answer is simple-they are a wild people.
God made some promises to Hagar about her son, but He also
gave a description of his personality. The promises have been
and will be fulfilled, and the description is accurate. Whether
or not the Arabs can handle democracy is a fair question.
The evidence is they cannot. Consider that they are mostly
Islamic, and Islam is a bloody religion that does not lend
itself to peace, no matter what some Islamic clerics and some
US politicians are saying. Islam is a pagan religion mixed
with a bloody culture and a merciless system of law. To say
this is a volatile mixture is a major understatement! Further,
consider the Arab nations of the world-there are 22 and not
one is a democracy. Those that say Turkey is a democracy have
never been arrested, accused, tried and jailed in Turkey for
even a minor offense. And this is their best representation
of a democratic society!
The Arabs are incorrigible, and have been since Ishmael.
Their nature, their culture, their religion, their values
and most every other thing about them as a people incline
them to practice violence toward any they consider enemies,
and even toward themselves. Our State Department would do
well to learn this.
